That’s why we’ve changed Arginine Alpha Ketoglutarate Instantised to 100% AAKG Amino Acid - but don’t worry, we’ve definitely not changed the taste or the nutritionals, so it’s still your favourite.

What does AAKG stand for? AAKG stands for Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate.

What is the difference between l-arginine and alpha-ketoglutarate? L arginine is simply another name for the amino acid, arginine, which is a semi-essential amino acid. This means that it is not just found in foods, but also produced by the human body – in this case from glutamine via citrulline. The body uses arginine to produce biochemicals, enzymes and proteins.

AAKG, on the other hand, is a salt of the amino acid arginine and alpha-ketoglutarate, which have been bonded together. The two are often coupled and offered in nutritional supplements such as pre-workouts.

Many forms of arginine have been produced in order to improve effectiveness and absorption. Our AAKG is different to many 1:1 forms on the market as it offers AAKG with a ratio of 2:1. This means that our arginine alpha-ketoglutarate is made from two arginine molecules attached to one molecule of alpha-ketoglutarate.

Which foods are high in arginine? Arginine is a semi-essential amino acid, which means that it can be found in your diet. Foods which contain arginine include meats, seafood, nuts and seeds, whole grains, and dairy amongst others. Arginine can also be found in numerous protein supplements in varying quantities.
