Reflex Nutrition BCAA are known as Branch Chain Amino Acids are classed as an essential amino acid. Meaning our body cannot create them but our body needs them through supplementation or diet.
Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and help keep muscles protected from breaking down. They can also help with protein synthesis which means the growing of muscles.
Reflex Nutrition BCAAs are made up of Leucine, IsoLeucine and Valine. They all are required for protein synthesis and aiding our muscles.
Leucine is often named as the “main” amino acid due to having the ability to make our body go from a catabolic state (muscle wasting) to an anabolic state (muscle growing). It works by activating a protein called Mtor which then induces protein synthesis.
IsoLeucine is also among the amino blend. This also has the ability to induce protein synthesis. It is used as fuel by muscle cells sparing other amino acids from being burned up.
Valine is the third amino acid in the blend. This has a stimulant effect. It is needed for muscle metabolism, tissue repair and maintaining nitrogen balance in the body. It can also be used as an energy source by muscle tissue.
